Once there was a young girl
Who dreamed of valiant knights
Of the great and noble deeds they did
She knew deep in her yearning heart
One day such a knight would come
To carry her away to a beautiful life
So it was that she waited and waited
But the valiant knight never came
Sadly she slowly came to realise the truth
That a young girl's fantasies and desires
Rarely, if ever, will they come true
No longer was she prepared to wait
Now she went forth to travel the world
Eager to see all that she could
Marvelling at the beauty she saw
Pitying all the darkness on the land
Twas only then she fully realised
Just how very lucky she had been
Her life was one of ease and happiness
Compared to others who daily suffered
Our world is a beautiful place to be
Glories of nature surround us daily
From a pretty flower to panoramic vistas
The bird soaring on high to a butterfly
Captivating and fulfilling our senses
Enchanting our minds with wonder
For no place on earth is without beauty
It surrounds us if only we could see it
Tis only the mind of man that is ugly
His endless greed and thirst for wealth
Destroying nature to make his fortune
Heedless of the destruction he causes
Yet in the end nature will destroy him
Wealth cannot grant him eternal life
So eventually he will die and be no more
Just like all the things he destroyed before
There is no moral I have to offer mankind
Just a belief of what I hold as being true
That unless man can change his ways
Our planet may one day be destroyed
Then there will be nothing left to marvel at
Nothing to enlighten our soul with wonder
Trying to exist in a barren and lifeless land
Cursing his ancestors for their fateful greed
